I have a Satechi hub for my MacBook with HDMI, LAN, a Logitech mouse dongle, and a power cable plugged in. So whenever I decide to work at my desk I just connect the hub and I'm done.
My PC laptop is always connected with various cables plugged in—it's just not a true laptop as it's completely useless without its 1 kg 300 W power brick lol
It's actually super-convenient with a USB-C/Thunderbolt dongle. Just a single cable to (un)plug and here you go
