Elegý - "Уходи" (Go Away) is a rethinking and rebirth. The sound has become heavier, more massive, and more thoughtful, while retaining the atmosphere of the forested and swampy areas of the Smolensk region, home. The album "Уходи" (Go Away) is a new, fresh look at familiar things. It's a return to old places that have changed and become different. It's a rebirth in a new guise.
The fourth album of this act from Smolensk after a two-year hiatus, that started as a solo project and grew into this four piece act.
Unlike its predecessor, "Уходи" is a darker and undeniably more abyssal descent than the more solar and uplifting "Graveflowers", shedding much of the latter’s airier and faster motion in favour of a slower and more punishing pull. The band remains anchored in atmospheric black metal, yet the doom element coils tightly around the songs, thickening the air until every chord and transition drags like a body through wet soil. Where "Graveflowers" still allowed flashes of harmony and movement, "Уходи" is far more abyssal, and even if it is not often fast-paced it, there are occasions like on the fifth track when it does so, even if only to be swallowed back into the vast ever consuming gloom.
Across the record there is a persistent perception of being pursued by time and consumed by a reality that offers no redemption, dreams crumble into dust, hope is exposed as a cruel deception, memory turns unstable and painful, sleep itself becomes a dangerous option. These recurring themes bind the album together as a single psychological wasteland, where desire curdles into futility, where even warmth turns up as a simple trap.
"Уходи" may be less varied than "Graveflowers", but it is arguably more unforgiving and a better vessel for darkness.
